Two weeks into the new year. Things have been getting better. As in not dreading work and I'm not too much in the red financially. I still have to thank my wife for being there for me when I lack in the money department. Such as getting groceries, gas and even the fucking car insurance. She really works her butt off for those expenses and I'm so dang proud of her for it. I am a really lucky man to be with someone so responsible and caring. Things that I wish were not in my life: the human body falling apart. This winter has been really hard on me. I know for a fact I feel the barometric pressure of the world. I have been aching. My hands are getting dryer and dryer every winter. To the point where they sting and crack. Sometimes they even draw blood. I have a sharp pain in my knee for the past 2 days. I have a strain in my right eye. I dread going to Web M.D. and finding out I have the C word or something as bad. But other than that, I keep myself high and try to enjoy life as we know it on this mud ball planet. I don't want to diminish the beginning of this blog with 'Oh this hurts.' 'Oh that hurts.'; I'm fine. Just paranoid I guess [side effect from the THC perhaps?]. My band Skinwalker has completed the drum tracks during my bassists' Xmas break from college. It was a challenge, but we overcame. Proud of them two [Doug and Ben]. Now I am engineering the guitar sound. It will consist of a guitar connected to a pedal and amp instead of just direct into the pedal to recorder. I am opting for an organic sound from amplification rather than digital wizardry. And once my bassist comes back for a weekend. We'll start recording the guitars. Can't wait for that moment. It's always a treat to hear the playback and get stoked and predict how the end result will be. We also have some gigs lined up. Ballard/Seattle, WA January thirtieth. And Portland, Oregon March second. So it will be great to play live in front of an audience once again. First up. From the blog The Living Doorway. The Ash Eaters. The Ash Eaters are band formed by a couple members of Brown Jenkins. Really doomy yet blackened dissonance. Brown Jenkins are no more. But this is some great material.

Next from the Prophet Of Death blog. Nabbath. Really solid black metal from Russia with love. I repeat, really solid. The production on this record rivals anything Dimmu Borgir ever did with Pete T.. Really great mix of blast and riff. Even heard some solos and lead lines. Russian black metal is sick. Ever since I heard Old Wainds, I never get let down from Russia.

From one of my favorite go to blogs, Luciferian Blogspot, Wolfsschrei. Fuckin' raw black metal from Alemania. Yes, Alemania. And it is fuckin' rad. No joke. In your face drum blasts, screeching vo-kills. Twin guitar dissonance hailing from the lungs of hell. These guys have been given the gift of black metal riff writing. This won't let you down. It's as if Satan joined a band and this is it.

Another from Luciferian Blogspot. Godless Cruelty. I don't know what is is about Alemania, but I like the black metal coming from that country. It has this melodic yet raw vibe that reminds me of a mix between Horna/Sargiest and Blodsrit/Enthroned. Solid riffs bent on spreading the plague with a balance of dissonance and ferocity. Excellent drumming too. This even has a cover of Darkthrone's "Transylvanian Hunger".

Pesten 1349 is really necro and raw. Yes, they have the number 1349 in their name. Do they sound like the Norsk band of the shortened version of the name? NO. Pesten 1349 are one of those real lo-fi black metal bands that you got to listen to at least once a month. I think Luciferian Blogspot found Alemania's top 3 black metal bands and posted them for all of us to listen to. And I thank them for that. Otherwise I wouldn't have heard the raw necro-aggression of Pesten 1349.

Fuckin' Mysticum! Computer drummer black metal from Norway in the early 90's. Made by people who have murdered people. Satan and drugs. This is a demo from a posting on Luciferian Blogspot. Necro-robotic-satanic as fuck. If you already have it, crank it up on your media player now. Loudly.

I found a new blog. World Humanicide. And they have posted a really raw 7" rip. If that's your thing. It's one of mine, hence these words typed. This is lo-fi and gnarly. Both bands from France. First band Bekhira. This side of the record sounds like it was recorded with a cheap tape recorder at a band rehearsal. But it still stands out and is what 7 inch records are about. That quick fix. Second band, Desolation Triumphalis, recorded what sounds like a rehearsal just like Bekhira. But with a better tape recorder than them. Actually, I think they did at least overdub vocals on top of a a vocal-less rehearsal. I could be wrong, but they don't sound that bad. Like I said, really necro and lo-fi. Previewer beware. Crank it up loud.

Now back to a few postings that were posted on Prophet Of Death blog. USA's Ordo Obsidium. A dark and doomy black metal band. Melodic doom riffs, blasting but dynamic with doom drums and those shrieking kind of vocals mixed with pure screeching. Great musicianship to balance ambient melodic with barbaric depression feel.

Skeld is fucking black metal noise. The vocals on this single are the most ferocious I have heard in a release since Enbilulugugal. Raw black metal riffs with static yet barbaric vocals that sound like satan screaming while shitting a brick. Prophet Of Death blog never has failed to bring the noise.

Last release from a blog to review is from Poland's Severe Storm. Posted by Prophet Of Death. These guys shred and rip on their instruments. I don't even know how many bpm's those were in the first track alone but holy Hell. Madmen in Poland I tell you. Madmen. Everything about this band s fluid. From the changes riff to riff to the drumming and feel. Bands today nail it way more than the bands of yesterday in speed.

Rounding out this post is a video uploaded by Legion Del Mal 666 blog. And the band in the said video is none other than USA's Black Witchery. This is a pretty good video. Sound and picture are great. And not to mention Black Witchery. Who kill live. Seriously? Who barbarically hates Christianity more than these guys [I know, stupid question to some of you who may read this]. Source for this particular video is credited in the beginning of video.

So...2012. I will be 34 next year. Woo hoo [sarcastically]. I think nothing will happen and the world will keep turning; just like Napalm Death said in that one record. I have been in a bit of a rut lately. But also have been having somewhat of a good time with good people. So it has been an imbalance of sorts. I try to stay out of dramatic situations; but have a tendency to cause them sometimes. Especially at work. And working with my wife. I don't like to see her work in pain or sickness. But The evil dollar has her by the short and curlies. As of recent, my band Skinwalker has started recording sessions for our second full length release. I have to admit here through this blog, that I wish we were recording somewhere other than my drummer's landlord's basement. It's just not the right place for recording anymore. It was for four songs, but not six, in my humble opinion. I have worries about the situation too; that distracts me from focus. Like the tenants who live in the building other than my drummer. Because it's an apartment complex, I want to give respect to the ones who live there. My band needs no distractions and a proper studio. And it's not within our grasp. We barely squeaked by getting a replacement drum head for the damn bass drum [thank you Doug for that one; I owe you big time]. That was a huge setback for the band. When recording, I felt like I wasn't 100% in tune with direction and preparation. And I wasn't capable of either for a couple aspects to this session. But we have a window of time until our band mate goes back to Pullman, WA for studies. So we gotta do this; good and fast. So let's press record.

In reference to the title of this blog, I wrote the title on my break from my job. I have all the time I want to write the body you read here now that I am not there. Can't say the same for my wife though darn it, she's still there as I type this. It snowed again here in Omak. Under an inch but still enough to disrupt some peoples traction on the roads. I wish it would snow more so I can take Chrystal out sledding. I imagine the forest does have more snow than town right now, but I want to go when there is a lot of snow. Picky picky. I haven't done much since I got off work. Been sitting here going through pictures I have seen on the web and videos I want to share. Going to fix more on my songs I am going to record with Skinwalker later tonight. I have 2 brand new songs. And they do need more fleshing out, including lyrics ideas. Going to get that done with my drummer Longbord Ben later this week. Aside from that it's work, eat, MW3, TV, sleep & repeat. BING!

Tuesday. Usually I don't have to work on this day. I asked for Sundays off from work since the start of the football season. It's been a treat to watch the game instead of bread and deep fry chicken and deep fry chalupas. I almost had to work today though after some scheduling snafus. But it cleared up and wah la I am blogging. There hasn't been a lot going on in my world. I work, but when I am not at work, I usually find myself in front of the TV, PS3 or this computer. I freak out sometimes about that because I should be doing something constructive with myself like doing more art, writing more music or writing lyrics for songs. One of the art projects I want to do is to draw Iron Man. I haven't drawn him in a while. When I do I am going to give the piece to my friend Kash, who is a huge Iron Man fan. I also want to visit my friend Seymoure Greenbeef's PassiveFist studios here in town. But I keep getting distracted. When I do, I hope to draw with him there and shoot the shit and listen to comedy CD's or whatever. My band Skinwalker has recorded a practice session a couple of weeks ago we plan releasing very soon. On cassette to boot. I did do some inlay cover art for that which felt great to do. I am going to print double sided inlays for it. Picture on front, credits on the back. Probly going to sell them for 5 bucks a pop. 2 brand new songs written by bassist Zamiel will be debuted. My wife has been nothing but a doll for me lately. Meaning very sweet. She does so much for me. I need to do something for here in return, what shall it be? A nice date? A drive to an unknown destination? I will think of something. She is the best thing in my life. I am very lucky to have some one like her by my side. I am proud to be married to her. In an effort to broaden my horizons and keep things fresh in my musical palette [black metal-wise mainly], I scour the front page of blackmetal.com's front page to find new/old tunes with YouTube. Some bands I have heard before [especially with the out of print and restocks lists], and some bands I haven't [would you believe I haven't heard of Sweden's Infernal until now? Those guys would tear a porn star a new one]. So if you have time, here is the list of bands; click on their name for a YouTube video.
